DIO opens up £4.35billion in contracts

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is now inviting bids for works totalling £4.35 billion.

It covers facilities management across England and Wales split between three new regional prime contracts: central, south-west and south-east.

Individual contract values range between £500m and £1.8 billion, over a minimum of five years, and they are expected to be awarded in 2014.

The main scope of work is to provide maintenance and repairs to the defence estate at sites, such as RMA Sandhurst and RAF Northolt.

Gill Hodson, senior Next Generation Estate Contracts project manager, said: "We look forward to widening our procurement work across these three regions for England and Wales, and hope the contracts will generate a healthy response from supply chain businesses and prime contractors alike."

Formed in 2011, the DIO is responsible for managing the military estate, including accommodation, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

The closing date for expressions of interest for the new regional works is March 23rd 2012.
